Between vacant positions and absenteeism, the EHPAD La Résidence Catalane, which only had a handful of temporary workers, had to almost daily resort to hiring temporary staff, costing nearly €130,000 per year. Wishing to both save money and relieve management, the EHPAD implemented Hublo in January 2024: a solution that is bearing fruit, as the establishment has already reduced its temporary staffing costs by 15 in just 5 months.

A vector for attracting temporary workers and reducing reliance on temporary staffing

Since the deployment of Hublo, the EHPAD has integrated 58 temporary workers into its pool of substitutes, along with 31 employees of the EHPAD eager to take on extra hours. For Nicolas Ferrer, deputy director of EHPAD La Résidence Catalane: “We wanted to create our own pool of substitutes, but we couldn’t do it alone. Hublo allowed us to achieve this thanks to the visibility it provided, and our pool is functioning well.”

With Hublo, the EHPAD is now able to fill 80% of its replacements each month, much to the relief of management: “Our administrative secretary, who is in charge of posting missions, finds this tool very practical because before, at the slightest emergency, she had to spend hours on the phone to find a replacement,” explains Mr. Ferrer.

Thanks to the establishment of a reliable and substantial pool, the EHPAD is already making significant savings: “It’s crazy: we have reduced our temporary staffing costs by 15 times,” estimates Mr. Ferrer.

A tool that promotes staff well-being and recruitment

The use of Hublo has been very well received by the employees of the EHPAD, as the tool also promotes their well-being: “Before, they were afraid whenever they were off and saw our number pop up on their phone... Today they have a choice: they only join our pool if they want to be offered replacements” explains Nicolas Ferrer. This solution has been even better accepted by the staff as “they are the first affected by the lack of staff, so they understand the value of this tool” he adds.

Mr. Ferrer also sees Hublo as an effective recruitment channel: “When some temporary workers are interested in a permanent contract, bringing them in for replacement missions allows us to see if there’s a match” he explains. He is currently considering hiring 2 nursing assistants discovered through Hublo for permanent positions.
